If you happen to be in Dallas or within driving distance of it, you may treat yourself to one of the most quietly exciting exhibitions to kick off 2021, that of the fashion photographer Paolo Roversi. Our love for Roversi’s washed out, moody style of photography can hardly be underestimated, as is our lament of the dearth of his work in physical form. There are relatively few books of his work and relatively few exhibits. The Dallas Contemporary museum aims to write this wrong.
The exhibit, Paolo Roversi: Birds, bills itself as the first North American exhibition of Roversi’s work (this is only accurate if you don’t count his gallery exhibits, of which there have been several), and concentrates on his collaboration with Comme des Garcons. There are forty photos on view, some of which are new to the public.
In case you cannot make it to the exhibit, there is a $150 monograph of the exhibit available for purchase through the museum’s shop.
